Private excursion Coba and Tulum

Maya intensiv - Impressive combination of the Mayan sites Coba and Tulum

Discover the archaeological sites of Coba and Tulum. Coba is one of the most important classical centers of the Maya on the Yucatan peninsula and was well connected with other Mayan sites. This is also shown by the impressive network of Maya streets (Zak Beh), the longest is about 80 miles long. From the top of the Great Pyramid you can enjoy a wonderful panoramic view of the jungle and the lagoons.

The equally impressive Mayan site Tulum is spectacularly located on cliffs overlooking the sea. Combine the two Mayan sites on a one day trip. Our tour guides have special knowledge of the archaeological sites, the Mayan culture and the history of Mexico.

Private excursion to Coba and Tulum: Coba – Tulum – Beach (optional)

We meet you at your hotel or any other meeting point. Guests coming from Cozumel will be picked up and transferred to the Cozumel - Playa del Carmen ferry terminal. From our meeting point we drive together in an air-conditioned van to the Mayan sites of Coba. From Playa del Carmen, it takes about 1.5 hours. The Maya road system Zak Beh connects various ceremonial centers and a temple pyramid 42 meters (140 feet) high. The longest Zak Beh road from Coba, runs about 100 kilometers (60 miles) to Yaxuna, which is close to Chichen Itza. We will do some short hikes as the buildings are well separated, by about half a mile. Those who are not afraid of heights can climb the pyramid and enjoy a fantastic view over the jungle. At the top there is a small room for ceremonies and an altar. The ruins of Coba are among the most impressive Mayan structures on the Yucatan Peninsula and home to many archaeological treasures. From Coba we drive to the Mayan ruins of Tulum, which are about 45 minutes away. We will take you back in time to the Mayan of the 13th century. We learn about the Mayan seafaring, the importance of the sun and moon and their exchange with other indigenous peoples of Central America. We discover how this impressive civilization lived and sought to understand the forces of nature.
